How_To_Sell_Anything_To_Anyone

I remember a long time ago, I guy I worked with said this about salespeople, "I just hate them. They are pesky. They are annoying. They are constantly bugging me to buy something. I just wish the whole lot of them would go jump in a lake."
I find this funny because the entire economy would shut down if nobody sold anything to anyone. And if the economy shut down, then the world would shut down. And how would all of us spend our time?
Ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration.
But you get my point, right?
Selling is a good thing.
So how do you do it in a way that's not annoying, like the person my friend described?
Read this short article to see for yourself.
How To Sell Anything To Anybody:
1. What problem does your prospect have?
The first thing you must find out before you try to sell anything to anybody is what problem the person has. Once you know what problem they have, you must make absolutely certain your product or service can solve their problem. These two steps are skipped by 99% of the salespeople which is why Joe Public despises a sales pitch.
And if your product or service does not solve your prospect's problem then do yourself a favor and don't try to sell it this person. That way you can save face. And so can the other person.
2. What does your product or service do?
Can you answer this question if I woke you up in the middle of the night while you were sawing logs? Are you absolutely clear about what your product or service does? Does your prospect feel the same way about what you sell? If you aren't crystal clear about the benefits you deliver then you must first figure this out since it's all your prospect cares about. All they want is for you (or someone else) to solve their problem in the least amount of time, for the best value they can find.
3. Does anybody want what you're selling?
Sometimes companies create products and services that nobody wants. That's in spite of all sorts of "paid" focus groups these same companies have done. But in the real world, where dollars are not exchanged for opinions, the simple fact maybe nobody wants what you are selling. If this is the case... and it does happen from time to time... then I would sell something else. Sure, people buy water. But would I want to go into the water business? No way. It's way too hard especially when there are so many other things to sell.
So there you have it.
